Ken a photograph of the end that fits on the camera would help. Some of these lens use an adaptor.

Hi Ken,
I would suggest taking it along to a photography shop... a dedicated one, rather than Jessops (though you may strike lucky in finding a good Jessops). You really need to examine the end quite closely to determine the exact fit... it could one of a number, including some specialised fits.

cheers,
Andy

As far as I remember this was an economical mirror-lens that has a T2 mount (ie you screw on an adaptor to suit your particular camera body).

Quality was variable as some test reports, in photo magazines, didn't rate it much whilst others said it was very good for the money.

The aperture is F8.8 (the 1:88 quoted above)

Ken,

A lot of independent lens makers of this class of optic used a T2 mount. As the lens is a fixed aperture there was no requirement for aperture linkage.

If the lens has a threaded mount then my money is on it being a T2 mount. I have had a look at a Jessops catalogue and they do them for £5.97.

You have not said what camera you wish to attach it too.

Something to be aware of with mirror lenses is that they are fixed aperture. - The exposure can only be controlled in manual mode using the shutter speed.

Adey beat me to it,but to add just a little more,T2 mounts can be got for about £11.99 in most popular camera mounts. Jessops catalogue page 162, shows T2 mounts for canon/nikon/olympus/minolta/pentax.
It is likely you may have to use manual metering and also manual focusing when using this lens. Mirror lenses also produce a strange effect on out of focus highlights, which appear as doughnut shapes ( now you probably think I am pulling your leg).Maybe one of the other members will see this and produce an image taken with a mirror lens for you.
regards Subzero.

For the life of me I could not remember the name of those adaptors. I had a lens with a T2 mount to M42 and the screws always needed tightening. Was I unlucky or were these mounts pretty naff ?

regards Subzero.
For an effect that was much in vogue at one time its very hard to find pics of the effect on the net.

The doughnut effect is always more prominant in highlight areas. I attatch a link. The picture is of a Great Horned Owl and although not the best example something of the effect can be seen in the brighter background.
