It is a bellows attachment for macro work - it looks like it has a tilt feature as well.

a modern version see link

Not sure it is a bellows attachment, that looks more like a very old monorail view camera to me. It has a shutter on the front (bit marked Synchro-Compur with various speeds indicated). The bit at the back looks like an eyepiece, not a place to attach a camera.

Dallmeyer is a very old British camera brand, probably the make of the lens.

This http://www.earlyphotography.co.uk/site/entry_C567.html looks a lot like yours.

well done for tracking it down Alex. I had not studied all the images.

Very clear it's not had a careful owner

Ha ha you are right the owner left it in a box in the shed and it has been there for years!! i have cleaned it a little but i dont want to tamper with it to much.
Is there anywhere i could sell it?

Find out more info about it - if bellows have holes in them, shutter works, aperture works etc...judging by cosmetic condition nothing works but you never know. The lens probably has balsam separation and would need a repair. Overall it looks like you'd need to spend a lot of money repairing that - in its current state it looks like little more than an interesting paperweight and as such not worth a lot of money.

I would clean it up and use it as some sort of decoration, it has retro charm.

However as a 35mm view camera with extensive movement it was intended for specialist/scientific work. It cost £180 back in the 50s which would have been a LOT of money (EDIT: according to online tools it could be anywhere between 3300 and 7500 2008 USD http://www.measuringworth.com/exchange/) and was not produced in great number. If you managed to get it working again it could be worth a fair bit to a collector today.

Without having the item in front of me or having detailed pictures it is difficult to evaluate overall condition, other than the visibly poor cosmetic condition. That does not necessarily mean that functions do not work.

The version in the photos doesn't have the full range of movements, so I think it must be the F version. Unfortunately I don't think that will be as valuable.
