Default Help

In another post I asked for help on selecting a wide angle lens for a Sony a200, then after a talk with a friend of mine who uses a d300 he suggesested for music photography getting a fisheye lens or a fisheye converter (he said a converter would be cheaper) I was wondering are there any fisheye converters for a reasonable price i.e £150 or below, I don't had much money to spend on photography as it is a hobby at the moment, however my grandfather said he will spend up to £400 for a wide angle lens and flash gun. So that will leave me to get the fisheye.

If anyone knows a website that sells them that would be awesome.

Thanks

Josh,

Before you spend any money on equipment, get to understand the effects of a fisheye lens. It's a wierd thing, that will seriously affect the shapes and apparent perspective of the subject. It has novelty value, but I'm not sure that a fisheye is really suitable for regular use. Get to know hte kit you have and what it does. Understand the effect the focal length of the lens has on the picture. Rushing out and buying equipment without understanding what it does, nor understanding how it meets (or doesn't meet) your needs is not the answer.

Josh,

I would agree with Duncan on this one.
A quick look at WarehouseExpress and wide angle zooms in the 10-20mm cost nearly the £400 that your grandfather is suggesting for a lens and a flashgun.
10 or 11mm is really quite wide, a LOT wider than your 18mm, and you really need to play with that before spending on a fisheye.
