Thank you all. I was actually waiting with a real camera for a steam train that failed to show up and this was the view behind me. I played with the settings in manual a bit but it wouldn't allow me to close down the aperture to increase DoF - maybe selecting landscape mode would have done that. The gate needed the shadows lifting about 1 stop in pp and the saturation was over punched throughout but other than that its surprisingly competent for a camera I had no interest in when I got the phone.
