sandisc 64gb memory card

Default sandisc 64gb memory card

hi all,im new to this site but been having photo fun for many years with canon d400,ive just got a 7d and bought a sandisc extreme pro 64gb 90 mb/s and when i search its properties it has 59.6gb capacity.
i know you never get the total stated but does anyone with the same card think this is the norm.all help appreciated.

thanks for the help,the article is interesting and does seem to explain why i have a difference in the actual and useable memory.

It's true for any storage medium, HDD or solid-state like an SD - my '320GB' external HD only gives me 299 usable GB.

false advertising if you ask me.......lets say you give £80 when the product costs £100...im sure they would want the correct amount listed on the pricetag.
