Default Nikon 55-200 zoom for a D50

I am thinking of adding this kit lens to my kit.I have the standard 18-70 zoom and a 35mm f2 prime lens.I can see the occasional need for a little extra reach so I do not wish to spend a lot on a lens that sees little use.I have discounted Sigma/Tamron on advise given on previous threads.I was just wondering if anyone has this lens and how pleased they are with it.
As usual I will most grateful to any replies rcvd.
Stephen

I've only ever tried this lens out in the shop at work.
All I can offer is to pretty much confirm it's in a diffrent league to the budget Tamron and Sigma offerings.
One other thing that struck me is the build quality. My pet hate with many modern digi lenses is cheap plastic feel about them....atleast the Nikon has the right 'feel' about it too
