Default Canon 600D

Will I still have to tape the pins on my Kenko 1.4x Teleplus Pro 300 converter when I use my Canon EF 400mm lens.

Thanks,

Geoff

yes you will - only the 1D series will allow AF at f8 (so an f5.6 lens with a 1.4x).

how well using a taped TC will work I don't know as it seems to vary from model to model and sometimes is even different for different cameras of the same model!

I suspect that if you use LiveView the contrast detect AF will work to some degree even if you don't tape the pins...
