Limited or no connectivity

Slight 'mishap' at home lately which involved the fire brigade; result is us now renting an appartment whilst house gets repaired! I know your next question & yes, my cam gears OK! Very nearly had a roasted schnauzer though!
Anyway; back to the important things...at the appartment, (appartment if you're posh, otherwise it's a 'flat'), I have access to a D-Link wireless router which is situated on the floor below us of which I have the access code from the owner.
Sometimes it works but now it wont, (using internet back home for this message). I keep ending up getting the message ' Limited or no connectivity'.... aaarrrrggghhhh!
I'm running vista...
Any suggestions?

If you know where abouts in the flat, sorry, apartment below the router is, try moving the computer so that it is physically closer to the router.

Also, do you know if it is set up for any particular wi-fi standard? Is your PC set up to use the same standard? Are you using a crowded wi-fi channel, default is channel 6 and if it's big block of fla.. apartments, if everyone is using channel 6 it can get unreliable.

Cheers for that Duncan...prob solved now...something about a password change on the main machine of which I was given but apparently needed the original password code. Local local gov Senior IT guy sorted for me. Charge...4 cans of Stella!
