Default New Format POTW - Members choice.

At present there is only two moderators and it is difficult to go through each individual photo in the gallery due to commitments of both myself and Postcard. We have decided there will be a change in the way the POTW will be chosen and decided that POTW should be picked on the amount of positive comments in the gallery discounting any Thank you replies. If there is a tie, then we will make the final decision.

Sounds like a good plan Christine. I know how much effort is needed from the mods for POTW and support anything to help make it easier for you guys.

I'm not sure how easy this would be but if,when making comments, you could select a "star rating" the system could automatically select the highest rated photo on a weekly basis. Or am I being too ambitious?

Hope it works out and makes things simpler for you. Thanks for all the work and time you and Postcard must put into running WPF not just POTW.

Thank you all for your positive comments on the new POTW format.
Over the last 12months its been difficult to get both myself and Postcard online at the same time. This has made it harder to make a decision on POTW, this revised way will mean it's the members that are making the choice with their positive comments.

Just a thought but why dont you add a poll box which you can do on any simple forum and attribute the 10 most popular photos. That way you can clearly vote and its less of your moderation time input into this.

Just a thought....

Oh and for me the next photo of the week has to go to AL, The Valley Walker. That dipper shot is superb!

sounds like a fair idea but Saphire has just changed the photo of the week from the Mods choosing a pic. to the photo with the most positive comments for the week...I think we have enough trouble getting 16 votes for our fortnightly challenge without having to vote weekly for POTW.... that said, I am happy to go with the flow.
happy shooting in 2012

Where will the positive comments be written?

Dorsetman, the photos with the most comments in the gallery are viewed, any thank you replies and suggestions are a minus. As an example, if a photo receives 16 comments but only 10 are positive replies then that is the one I will put in my favourites until Sunday evening. Any that has a lower count then 10, I don't save. If there is a tie then myself and Peter make the final decision.
