Default Paint.Net

I thought it best to start a new thread on this, if you've read my last topic about my old Photoshop version you will know I'm looking for a new software package to edit images in.

I discovered Paint.Net www.getpaint.net on my PC this morning, it must be something my son dowloaded and installed, I've had a quick play with it and is seems very intuative to use and unbelievably it's free.

I know there will be limitations but it has all the basic features you'd expect to find in paid for software, does anyone else use this? In fact has anyone else even heard of it before?

Sorry, I have not heard of this one off the top of my head. As mentioned elsewhere the best free one is The Gimp (Open Source) but there would be a steep learning curve. Powerful programme by all accounts,The Gimp that is.

Hi Trevor - yes, I use Paint.Net quite a bit. It is a more powerful (upgrade) version of Paint that comes with Windows, and though it is limited in a lot of ways, it does the majority of things I need at times. If I want or need further adjustments or special effects I use PSP X
or (even better because it is free) - Photo Pos Pro.
I have downloaded The Gimp about 4 times now and despite using it (or trying at least) I get very despondent with it and remove it. I find I just can't get my head around it at all.
