Cool Favourite Photographers?

Hello All, newbie Cookie here.
I am completely new to photography and joined hoping that people on here could give me an insight into the photographic world. I am hopefully getting my first proper camera today and am interested in landscape, cityscape, abstract and minimalist photographers.

I hardly no ANY photographers Please could you tell me your favourite modern photographers and I will check them out? Preferably landscape, cityscape, abstract or minimalist photographers.

After some 'intense research' (googling!) I did find one I love! He's called Mark Raymond Mason and he is a fantastic photographer, anyone heard of him?

http://www.markraymondmason.com/

Cheers,
Cookie.

Current landscapers - Joe Cornish, Lee frost, David Ward are all worth a look. I'm not sure I'd regard them as my 'favourites', but they have all been influential in current fashions in landscaping.
Dont write off the greats from the past though - like any good art, a good photograph remains a good photograph. Ansel Adams is where landscaping starts for a lot of people.
And if looking for inspiration, look at landscape painters too - Turner for instance used light brilliantly.

Hi Cookie and welcome.

Check out the wok of Rune Werner Molnes. I am sure that you will find him inspiring.

As others have said the work of painters and early landscape photographers should not be missed.

Cartier-Bresson for me. I find his style the hardest to succeed in!

I don't normally keep track of specific modern photographers, but a couple do spring to mind, as they have struck me as particularly impressive:
The Swedish macro photographer, John Hallmén and for still life Gary Hickin both have work on the net.

I hadnt heard of Mark Mason, but I did look at his web gallery - some very inventive and well-observed nature images there. Thanks for pointing me that way.

Gordon,

Hey. I personally think he is underrated. He is a very skilled photographer, saying its not a full-time occupation. He does sell a few prints here and there, but its just an enthusiastic hobby of his. He's a very friendly chap, I am contacting him at the moment - he is from Canada and as his gallery shows, has some stunning photos, from various sections of photography, abstract, landscape, etc. Plenty for everyone to enjoy
