Hello Nathan and welcome to the forum. For that sort of money, there really isn't that much to choose between any of the cameras available.

For budget compacts any of the big name brands will do pretty much just as well as each other. Go into a shop and have a play with some of the different models available. How easy you find it to navigate around the controls will make a bigger difference than the name/model on the front.

Have a look at some of the models that have just been discontinued and are now "old" stock. You can often get these at a bargain knock down price, and get a better spec camera for the money.

Number of megapixels is not the be-all and end-all that the salesguys would have you believe. If anything, go for a smaller number, as very high megapixel counts can often give more noise.

Hi Nathan.
Dont forget to ask about the memory card. You may need to buy one. Good hunting, make the salesperson work for your money.
