You guys are playing with faces while i'm still working on Windmere. I will get better and faster, meanwhile I'm really learning a lot about PS.
Comments on the attached, please. To me, the lighthouse is ok but the guillemots don't appear natural, they need to blend into the water far more.

The lighthouse looks great but like you said the gullimots need to be smoothed into the water use the burn tool then the blur tool with about 3% under the belly untill it looks like it will fade them into the water.

Snowyowl, congratulations and thanks for joining us and joining in the fun whilst learning together. The lighthouse looks great but along with the guillemots could be a bit bigger. Who says the birds should be lifesize, sometimes for effect a little larger is good especially in the front of the picture. Art cannot be constrained by physics!!!

To join edges together, e.g in the windsurfer & church in my earlier effort, I turn down the opacity of the layer and\or use the clone at a low setting-20'ish- to blend the surrounds. Notice the reflection of the sail, how it appears to be under the water. Practice makes perfect so back to the grind.

Gerry.

Gerry.
I've been part of this from some of the earliest posts. Thank for the tips. I was deliberately trying to keep the add-ons in the scale of the lake as it appears to me.

A storm has sprung up on Windermere, the windsurfer escaped safely.

I think that the guillimots are nicely placed. For me they would benefit from being slightly larger. Anyway they certainly do the job of giving foreground interest and improve the overal experience.

Nice one Gerry that looks really good, now you will have to find a windsurfer to add to it.
