We just downloaded this and it didn't seem to want to work at all, swiftly removed it and now either looking at coral paintshop pro or elements 6!!

Think I'll continue with picassa and learn how to properly use my new camera before thinking about costly software upgrades!!!

I favour XN-view. Its a free download off the net. It is simple to use though it may be lacking in some of the features of Photoshop.
Then again I am only a beginer.

To be honest my old pc struggled a little with paintshop pro, but then that was the new version. Elements 7 runs fine.

oh also a handy little program if you are shooting in RAW is the preview extractor. it makes small preview jpegs from your raw files so you can review them without having to convert them straight away.

Hi Lee, just for info all RAW files have an embedded jpeg in them - for Canon users the free software that comes with the Camera (Zoombrowser or DPP) will not only give you a thumbnail of the RAW but also a full screen jpeg which you can view before conversion.

Lee, Nikon would have the embedded jeg as that's what you see when you preview a RAW image in the Camera. I do not know anything about Nikon Software though.

Lee, if you install the Nikon raw codec for windows, you can view your raw files directly within windows without having to process them first.
