Unfortunately more than not, you will. So if manual shut down is not a major issue, just tolerate it. If you have a copy of every plug-ins, then re-installation is not a problem.
One thing I have learned in a hard way is to have my hard disk partitioned initially. On C: drive that is a smaller partition (About 5 times of OS size) I save no important picture, document, file etc, this is reserve only for OS. Then every now and then, when pc starts to misbehave, I format that C partition, only, and re-install windows there. Unbelievably improvement in performance is the name of the game (You need to reinstall some of the programs also as they lose their connection with registry). I do take care of every driver that over time I install or needed to be installed along with a hardware added, similarly my important downloads including plug-ins, fonts etc; both in form of CD/DVD if they came that way or in another section of hard drive (Not the volatile C: partition).
