Sony has announced their new Alpha A900 Full - Frame DSLR with 24.6MP sensor. The expected retail price is $2999
At more than 24 MP and full frame, half the price of Canon's legendary 1DsIII or ~30 percent less than Nikon's D3, this might be a huge alternative for serious amateurs or pros not forgetting that Zeiss is also making many marvelous lenses for the Minolta AF mount used on all Sony's DSLRs. Hold on to your Minolta / Konica / Sony lenses if you have any as prise is sure to shoot up. LINK to DP

Don't forget Canon will be announcing the new 5Dll next week (or whatever they call it) which is widely expected to have 21 or 24 mp and reduced noise and I expect will be cheaper than the Sony. That will eventually mean a new 1D family, 30mp anyone and with less noise than the mark lll? It is so competitive out there at the moment!
