ok, this competition debate is an interesting one.
it depends on how seriously you take it... i think of it more as a "themed event" ... its something that i have actually thought of as exciting and wandered about my house looking for some everyday object, and have in fact spent some time on thinking of ideas, looking down toilets, inside washing machines and staring at my reflection in a spoon, so obviously its making me think, explore on new levels. i can see no negativity what so ever in having this comp, and it is something that i will throw myself into whole heartedly when my macro - insect obsession has passed with these hot summer insect filled days ...... i will be really honest here, i have only just recently got back into photography, i dont think i have done anything that has filled me with so much joy ... i go out every day for massive long walks, i fill some primordial role of hunter which i never new i had, i have a cheeky pint in a pub afterwards and then rush home to see what pics i have captured that day, which fills me with excitement each day......... i digress... but my point is this, in the winter months perhaps i will become reliant on this comp, perhaps to fan the flames of this new pastime that is giving me blissful moments and some purpose ..... and yes i would love to win this comp, for fellow photographers in here to give me a pat on my back, why not?
why haven't i entered for the above reason and also i am struggling coming up with an idea, i feel the subject matter requires almost a studio type layout, i also don't own a flash so the light is bad.... but i have i assure you thought long and hard about the subject.
