H4ardy I think you will need an adaptall2 I think to fit the canons, there are a few on ebay but they can be a high price.

To the best of my knowledge there is no adaptall mount to connect to an EOS camera. Assuming you have the mount for FD then you can get an adapter made to fit this combination to an EF mount for about £45. See www.srbfilm.co.uk.

The following mounts can successfuly be adapted to EF: Nikon F, Nikon AI, Olympus OM, Rollie 35mm, Contax/Yashica, M42 screw, some Leica and a few others. Mounts that can be adapted but will not allow infinity focus include: Canon FD, Pentax K and KA, Minokta MD. The difficulty with these is that the image plane to lens throat distance is too short to accomodate the adapter and/or the mount diameter is too great to mate close to the Canon mount. I have used many Tamron lenses with a canon 300D via M42 and Nikon F mount adapters with the appropriate EF adapter in between lens and camera. These are much cheaper than the Tamron ADII EF adapter and I have found are better as the Tamron>EF mount does not depress the aperture stop down control on the lens which makes stop down metering a pain. Nikon ADII mounts can be had for under £10 and a Nikon to Canon EF moubt can be had for about £7 plus postage off ebay. I have also had great success using my collection of Olympus Zuiko prime lenses via an Oly>EF adapter I bought via ebay. This gave me access to my 50mm f1.4 and 40mm f2 pancake lenses. The Tamron MF Macro is a nice lens. I have the older f2.5 version with the extension tube to give lifesize reproduction. It also makes a nice short telephoto for low light shots of musicians. I recently switched to a Nikon D2HS but can still use it via a Nikon AIS Adaptall mount. I thoroughly recommed them for the money. Last edited by tricky; 28-12-06 at 15:53. Reason: formatting |

Thanks very much for that tricky.
And yes the Tamron 90 is a very nice lens. I was lucky enough to get the f2.8 version for a mere £90 on ebay. Last edited by H4RDY; 28-12-06 at 18:59. |

Tricky is right about the Canon adapter which is why SRB put a lens in so that infinity focus can be obtained, it has a multiplication factor of 1.6.
