I shoot a large format on my Cannon but Im guessing in PS or on my computer PC, it is set at 72 dpi, default. I put all pics on a cd for my customers and cant change all 400+ pics to 300 dpi and they dont know how. So how do I change the default on my computer or in PS to 300dpi as the default.

Amazing what you can find with a simple search on google.....

"Go to Edit on the menu bar and go down to Preferences > Units & Rulers, you can then set the New Document Preset Resolutions here." |

The above only applies to a creating a new file in Photoshop not editing an existing photo.

The 72 dpi is a tag embeded by Canon into the Jpeg. Sadly this is not configurable on the camera. Scanning the web the most common suggestion is to create a photoshop action script that opens the jpeg and changes the resolution without resampling and then resave it. Otherwise if you know a programmer he could write a simple program to modify the tag. I assume you are not using raw otherwise ARC could configured to whatever dpi you require.

I have a load of similar actions for such purposes as resizing, adding info etc. Takes no time at all to run an action to change the required dpi as a batch.

Thanks I think I will try the action direction, Im glad it wasnt something I had changed on my computer! It sure is frustrating though for 400+ pic to change.

true, but set up the action and run it through as a batch...shouldnt take long as its only a small job your asking it to do.
