Default Should I worry?

Hi All
As I have only had one lens since buying my D80 I never had the need to remove the lens, The other day I noticed some spots on one of my photo's I took the lens off and saw some particles on the mirror (which I blew away easily) But I did notice the sponge (mirror damper) had a gap along the front edge. Do I need to worry about it? as the D80 is less than a year old should I get it looked at? I will try and get a photo of the sponge and post here if anybody is interested in seeing what I mean.
Thanks

No dirt on the sensor? If not then doesn't sound too bad but if its under warranty why not get it dealt with?

Lello,

Attatched is a view of the D100 mirror box. The foam should be stuck down along its length. If yours is comming adrift I would send it off while the camera is still under warranty.

Hi Don it doesn't seem to be adrift but there is a gap, I will speak to local Nikon agents tomorrow.

Thumbs up

Lello,

The gap is normal. Check my D100 pic, its just the same.

My thoughts from the first post was that the foam strip was coming adrift.

No need to worry here.

Don

Panic over, checked out a new D80, which has the same gap on the sponge damper.

Its so sharp and well cut that you can easily say its man made not a defect.
