Default Text in photoshop elements 3

My text in PE 3.0 is really small and there doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it. My text is turning out like you see in the first attachment (I have it set to the largest size) and my goal is more like in the second attachment. Second photo is copyright Micah Murray/...hope he doesn't mind me using it for an example.
This is a great frustration for me. I hope someone can help!

Not a PE user but text should not be any different from PS, I suppose.
What did you do with the Font size? can you enter a number like 36,48,72 or likewise to increase the size?
If you need a different Font, use the very many nice ones out there for free download. Just yahoo it.

PS: Never assume a thing with copy right. Written consent or just leave a link instead of transferring anything.

I have the size set to the largest, 72. And it's still wicked small.
About the copyright thing, Micah's a friend so I don't think he'll be coming after me with the law. ;-) But yeah, you really do have to lightly tiptoe around copyrights.

Did you highlighted the whole sentence before changing the size to 72? i.e. Holding down left mouse bottom, passing through all the sentence form one end to other, when you see text being highlighted blue. You must do this so the program knows which text is to get the change in size. Post back with result please.

Have you resized the image before adding the text?

If I take a full size image (3872 x 2592 pixels) and add 72 point text, it comes out this big. Image has been resized to 800 x 600 (ish) for uploading, but you should be able to figure out the proportions.

If I resize the image to, 800 x 600 (ish) again, but this time do this before typing the text, I get the second example.

It's important to set the text size before you start typing.

Duncan! You're brilliant! So that's what I've been doing wrong. :P
Yes, Sassan, I did highlight the text before changing the size.
Thank you both!
