Default The Ultimate Stitched Photograph

I have just found this. http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/con...id=7-7899-8635

If you click the link, at the bottom of the page, to the online version you will be amazed.

It takes a moment to load then go to the 8.6 GPixel webpage and have a look. Incredible !!

Don

for those of us with download rations, what is this in MBs?
Now they need a printer 35 feet wide I suppose or a good line in wallpapers for the 'larger house'

It downloaded pretty quickly. An amazing feat. But then the Italian and French Renaissance artists actually painted images of this size.

Chris,

I attach a screen capture to give some idea.

Cannot be precise as the total download in MBs while you are on the image, but as I am 2Mb broadband it will give some idea of 4 mins worth of cruising the image.

Hope this helps.

Yes, clever stuff; poking save button produced about 5MB of stuff which gives a 10 second re-run including a few 'extreme details' and ending up at the movie main page including the thumbnail (some thumb!)

Wonderful one Don. Excellent link.
Concept is not new, if thinking of digital or on line maps and more recently the satellite picture map on google.
When half megapixel was the norm and 2 megapixel cameras were dream to own, I was thinking of using the same half or one MP camera's multiple picture and joining them together on that stitch program that was a excitement of day to own a cheap version of 2 mp image. Yes I am talking of last century technology. But this with that Italian French touch is simply wonderful.
Thanks again for this nice link Don.

I thought this one was big until I saw your link.

Unfortunately, the link to the actual image no longer works.

How big is this one?

Make sure to click on "Satellite" i.e. middle option box on the right upper corner, then zoom in or out on the scale in the left, or only enter an address, and be the judge.

I can see top of my car clearly parked at the door...

Google earth is better for this but some of the images are very old.

I have google earth, but not the fully paid up version. If I go to where I live the image is very poor, but when I go to Croatia to look at the town where my sister lives then similar quality to Sassans link.

A bit of bait I think.
