Default Help healing brush/ clone stamp tool

Sorry if it seems a bit obvious. I wanted to use these tools but I think I did something to bog it up.

When I select it it looks a bit like the cross hairs (4 dots and one in the middle). When I resize it to get the circle to place over the bit of dust etc. it stays as a cross hair?

Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks, yours frustratedly.

Been there, surly will be there again.

At least talking for myself, it is so easy to pass through alternates of feeling you know everything about Photoshop and then soon feeling you don't know anything about it...
I think it has to do with the excellent program that is almost "One size fit all" concept in digital post processing handling. So any bottom, single or in combination on your keypad has very many meanings some even unknown to those who teach it for life. I wonder even if the Adobe programmers making this software, themselves are aware of full capabilities of this program.

Well happy endings are always nice to hear.
So have more fun.
