The worlds largest telephoto lens 1700mm f4 for hasselblad 6x6 medium format has been unveiled, see below.

At 256kg (1/4 ton) methinks some upper body strength is in order

Quite amazing. Having used a Bronica SQA ( similar in size to Hassleblad ) for several years I can really visualise the size of that monster.

Any guesses as to a price? I reckon at least £30k but £50k wouldn't surprise me, maybe far more.

I would not dare to guess given R&d etc. I am now waiting to see a forklift bearing Hassleblad logo. ( Smilies inoperative )

If you have to ask, you can't afford it!

I reckon about a quarter of a million

I wouldn't even argue with that price. Consider the Canon 1200mm is about £60k

Doesn't impress me unless it is attached to a balloon of helium make it hand held lens (Must be out door only) or to see Hass first make a 6x6 digital sensor.
Still my favorite all time lens is the Nikon's legendary 6mm fisheye with 210 degree of view that I believe is at 100K US$ should you be able to find one.
