Wow...implications for photographers and pro' videographers there....
From the li-ion content restrictions shown, as long as batteries are carried as hand luggage it doesn't look to be too much of a problem for Digital SLR users...unless you've got near 30x batteries with you...However, checkout the reduced limit on NON-rechargeable li-ion packs as used with many pro film SLR's! ![]() I think the Metz flash battery packs are probably the most hazardous....I've occasionally thought my 60CT pack might burst into flames...but then it always did hum,vibrate and get warm with use! ![]()

It certainly doesn't seem as onerous as the headline suggests. Carrying your batteries in hand luggage isn't that big a deal. It would appear to only apply to USA flights too.

Fortunately, many of the modern dslr Li-ion batteries can do 1,500 - 2,000 photos per charge... a far cry from the old days. I only have one spare in case one dies completely. Of course, if you're off to somewhere remote for a while with no charging facilities, then charged spares become more relevant.
