Ive been looking to replace or say upgrade my sigma 70-300apo to one with IS, the 2 lenses i've looked at are the canon 55-250is and the latest canon 70-300is i was wondering if anybody had any experience with these lenses and if theres really any benifit with paying the extra 100 poundsfor the 70-300

I have no experience with either but don't know why if I was to pick up one, it surly would be 55-250.

'Photozone' does quite good lens reviews and might be of help.

I haven't seen any reviews of the 55-250 Is, but I have the 70-300 IS and it really is an excellent lens. Reviews suggest that image quality is almost on a par with L series lenses

No experience of either lens but the question I would have is if you went for the 55-250 would you miss the extra reach or does the wider end of the lens appeal to you? I would prefer the extra reach and the wider end can be covered by another lens like the standard zoom you probably have.
